All the news sites are unreachable, the cell phone networks are jammed. This is scary and surreal. This makes Oklahoma City look like a fender bender. Xkot and friends are talking about this unbelievable carnage on his message board.

this is appalling. I’ve been trying to reach you on AIM, but although you show as online I don’t know if you’re getting my messages. I’ve been watching it live in the UK and it’s almost unbelievable. I’m worried about space. I think he was due to travel to New York today or tomorrow. It’s just too awful to contemplate.
Yes, it’s a nightmare. The company my mom works for had an office in the World Trade Center, and she spoke to the people there several times a day. Many of them were friends to her, and when I spoke to her she was wondering if any of them were alive.
A woman I work with here has a brother who worked in the World Trade Center. She found out that he had taken today off for his wife’s birthday. He was very fortunate.
Hospitals in Seattle are calling for blood donations, so I would imagine there must be some way of freezing the blood and getting it out East even if there is no air travel right now. I may feel helpless and angry and shocked but at least I am going to donate blood.
Here in Denver the blood banks are actually suggesting stopping by in a few days, since they are presently swamped with people coming in to donate.
A bunch of people from my floor were going to try and donate blood, but the Red Cross here is so swamped right now, they can’t even consider us for a few days. We’re going to go at the end of the week. It’s pretty much the only thing we can do right now, so we will.
We had people working on the 51st floor of the South Tower, but we were told today that they did get out of the building safely, thank goodness.
