Apparently I’m the only person in the universe who likes both the “Enterprise” theme song and the images that go with it. I’m more attached to the images, though, and everyone seems to hate the song the most. So, maybe we could compromise and find a different song to go with the images. As if it was any of our decision.

I love the opening credits. The actual words to the song aren’t bad, but the singer is awful. He sounds like the guy in those Budweiser radio commercials… “Here’s to you, mister footlong hotdog seller” and then you hear the guy sing “MISTER FOOTLONG HOTDOG SELLER…”
The images work for me. The song MUST go. Call up Goldsmith, offer him lots of money, and convince him to write a kickass replacement theme pronto.
Now that we’re through the second episode, I have a few more problems with the series:
1. Lose the theme song. Oh, I mentioned that.
2. Did I mention lose the theme song?
3. The Vulcan’s line readings are off. They are irritable, sarcastic and emotional – not Vulcan. She’s either Vulcan or a sarcastic thorn in the side. Pick one.
4. More spirit. The major decisions just get made and lay there. The decision to explore the dead ship was downright boring. Bakula droned something like “Okay, we’ll go in.” Blah, blah blah. I would love to see a glint in Scott Bakula’s eyes as he looks around his hopeful crew and says “Let’s go in.”
5. No more pet slugs. No more leaving pet slugs in the desert sun to dry out and die. No more leaving alien life forms on unexplored planets without making them the subject of a future episode about the origin of the prime directive.
I completely agree with Arthur. RE: the vulcan chick especially. I was saying the same thing ALL through the show. It’s not like there aren’t good examples of how a vulcan speaks, she could do a little research and watch some friggin shows and get some tips. There is entirely too much emotion and inflection in her voice and it grated on my nerves for the entire show. Stinky vulcan chick.
I honestly haven’t heard the theme song yet. I’m so busy tracking all the images on the opening credits that the music just becomes background noise (which is unusual for me).
The vulcan wouldn’t bother me if she stuck with one thing or the other. She pulls off a Vulcan-like reserve once out of every three lines. Maybe. Right when I think “She’s starting to get it”, she drops back into sarcasm mode, or gets angry. Having her in a scene is distracting because of her acting, which is the last thing you’d figure would do it, looking at her. /pig
