this is like the war on drugs – constantly morphing goals, enemies and locations. i agree that those behind this stuff should be put out of business, but who are they and how do you do it? what disturbs me is the fact that *everyone* but adam and myself is using this situation to advance their own agendas.

That’s a sweeping statement, Miguel, and it smells of advancing your own agenda of non-agenda advancement.

I guess that’s why the Korean War was really a police action, beause the objective, enemy, and geography kept shifting on us ….
The “War on Drugs” is a misnomer largely because it’s a publicity puff piece name. If we were carpet-bombing Columbia (a remarkably bad idea, but just to use an example), then it might be a usable name.
In this particular conflict, we’re mobilizing troops, we’re launching missiles, we’re sending in ground forces (covertly so far, overtly soon I suspect) — sounds like war to me, even if the precise objectives are more than a bit hazy, since the enemy itself is more than a bit shadowy.

No war, no recession, no election……….what is not next?
adam, your words really mean things. and i totally agree.
Hmmmm. In what way do you distinguish this from a “war”?
In some ways this feels much more like a war than, say, the Gulf War.
war=clear objective, clear enemy, geographically distinct location, doesn’t it?
