Back from the beyond

Post – March 14, 2003

One of the many things that troubles me about the next few months is the real possibility of some Fight Club/Twelve Monkeys-style domestic terrorism. I can easily see some crazy-ass war protestor blowing up some military or governmental installation in the name of world peace. What fresh hell that would unleash is almost beyond my comprehension.

I have no solutions, no witty banter to plaster over this. I’m just scared.

… right where they want us.

Won’t happen, at least not for 3 or 4 years.

Or, a war protester-hater gets fed up with “all them San Francisco liberals” and nukes San Francisco, eliminating about 600,000 Democratic votes from California and swinging the state just slightly right enough that the ‘Publicans take over. I don’t even look toward the San Francisco skyline anymore for fear that my eyes will be seared away when the blast happens.

I would say we should keep Brad Pitt from making any more films in the interest of national security… but I like both of those movies. I’m torn.

That’s so funny you should say that. Just yesterday I made a comment to a friend basically saying I was surprised no one had tried to take a few shots at Bush or Blair yet.
But of course if they did, the administration would blame it on Osama Hussein and immediately launch for war.

odd that you worry about a war protestor blowing something up – i would thik a group of yahoos in Texas shooting their rifles at 7-11 owners is more likely once this thing gets started

I was thinking the Statue of Liberty would be a natural target to kick of militant domestic rebellion, regardless of political leanings. Leftists would do it to signify our loss of liberties, rights would do it because it came from the French.

    How about assassinating Gaultier?
