Can we call you Mr. Wordsmeanthings now?
It’s a mouthful, but sure.
I read through that in in her follow up post I left a comment – I’m a neutral (by nationality) in this debate and I came out of that seeing someone with foam in their mouth whereas I thought you were quite respectful in your approach. Quite breathtaking.
Damn you, Adam, for having exposed me to such a vitriolic b*tch! ;-P} But what gets to me is how the churlish (like her) accuse those who don’t agree with them of being churlish. It’s all getting very boring and tiresome, if you ask me. Like I told Stephanie at Lomojunkie, I think it’s time for smart people like you who can effect change to focus on and convince those who have been numbed into apathy.
What a dumb fucking box.
I like to YELL at people on my BLOG because it reminds me of FIFTH GRADE when I got PUSH AROUND a lot on the PLAYGROUND only NOW I get to GET EVEN!!!
HaHaHa then I BAN them and DECLARE VICTORY LIKE IN THE MOVIES!!!!111
(sob)
(sniff)
somebody love me?
(wipes tears from cheeks)
(continues eating straight from the pint)
____________
I go now.
Oh, was this the place to say that?
Your subtlety has dipped below the meaning mark in the wading pool, Spark. Out with it.

Apparently what it means is that every time I try to provoke someone online these days, they defuse the situation. Clever bastards.
Well, that’s better. Too bad I have to go to work, or I’d switch IP addresses all day.
“DON’T try your amateur psychoanalysis on me. EVER.”
There’s a new tagline for you, Adam. Better than “package grabbing” or “King of the Chews,” I think.
I’m surprised that creature didn’t have a stroke or implode or something.
New tagline! Yay! (great idea.)
Random Spleen Generator: Watch Her Implode!
Enjoy!
I love you, Miss Anthropy. (wiping away a tear of laughter)
I rattled her cage too. She sounds like Coulter-lite.
Wow. She was kind of overreacting a little, wasn’t she? And, Sparky, I wouldn’t listen to her saying your site is badly designed – isn’t that one of the MT templates that she’s using?
Moveable Type means never having to say you’re sorry.
These are exactly the sort of people I never want to be lumped in together with.
I mean the Andrea Harris gal…
Yes, I’m bored.

Wow. That is not the curriculum I’d generally associate with a rabid Coulter Clone.
It’s interesting to me how computer-mediated communication give you an insight into people’s personalities that goes beyond their public statements. There are actions, too, as in the speak-louder-than kind.
In the mid-1980s, when I became a BBS fanatic and started obsessively participating in online political debates, it was fascinating for me to see how system operators would reveal their darker sides through how they wielded their godlike (albeit in an extremely limited way) power.
I’ve noticed over the last few years how similar the situation is with webloggers and their comment sections. People like Andrea, who flame or ban or delete the comments of people who disagree with them, are revealing a lot about themselves.
Certainly, the owner of a website should have complete sovereignty over the content of the site and over the conduct of anyone who participates on that site, but it’s telling that Andrea so deeply needs to flex her muscles in that regard, when a light touch is what makes a moderator (operative word: moderate). While it’s in her power to ban or delete or flame or pretty much to do whatever she wants with her online property, I feel sympathy for her that she needs to protect her personal boundaries in such a vicious and heavy-handed manner. Makes me wonder who in her past made her feel so helpless and inconsequential that the only way she can feel “real” is to subject others to the same horror she obviously endured. A student of feminism resorting to the very behaviors that lead to oppression — it’s mortifying.
And it’s particularly difficult to watch becuase I’ve done the same thing myself, as I work through issues of power, dominance, abuse and helplessness. It’s like watching someone pee their pants in public.
“It’s like watching someone pee their pants in public.”
Even though it was aimed at Andrea, that would make a superb tagline for any blog willing to claim it.
