For some reason, this year seems littered with big-budget, big-name movies that I have no interest in seeing. In fact, these are movies that I want to actively avoid. A partial list includes:
-Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle
-Bruce Almighty
-The Hulk
-Cat in the Hat
-Pirates of the Caribbean
-Dumb and Dumberer
The ones I am looking forward to?
-Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions
-Finding Nemo
-LOTR: Return of the King
That’s about it. A strange movie year. Although if all four of those are great movies, it will be better than some years past.
Adam, I didn’t even want to watch the previews for most of your “uh-uh no way” list.
Did we really NEED another “Dumb” movie? Honest?
I’m surprised that you don’t want to see The Hulk — apart from the obvious media blitz that makes everything yucky and goopy, we’re talking about the same director who did Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Matt and I will gladly accompany you if you’re willing to reconsider.
John: I *was* interested in seeing The Hulk, because of Ang Lee, and despite the fact that one of the stars is my pop culture nemesis, Jennifer Connelly. But then I saw the preview, and the CGI Hulk just looked stupid. And if it looks stupid for one second in a preview, I can’t believe it will be better over long periods.
I remember laughing considerably at an early preview of “Dumb and Dumberer.” (It only featured voices, no pictures) But, when I heard it wasn’t going to be Jim and Jeff, I instantly lost interest. Bruce Almightly looks entertaining though.
The Hulk has always been at his best when he’s not green, so to speak. You take the monster with the cake. Jennifer Connelly… I’d take a baseball bat to the stomach if I could just crawl over to her before the internal bleeding did me in.
Have you watched a trailer for Pirates of the Carribean?
1) Pirates
2) Undead
3) Flamboyant Depp
I remember remarking after seeing Charlie’s Angels for the first time, “This is the best thing that humanity has ever created.”
And as I stand by that assessment, I’m rather looking forward to the sequel.
Oh come on you HAVE to see Bruce Almighty! It was filmed and took place in Buffalo, my great home town! I was even in one of the scenes for it (granted, it was a Sabres games and there were about 18,000 OTHER people in it too…)
