Most of my political steam today has been vented at Dave Does the Blog, in a thread called “Looking for the smoking gun.” It feels good to get it out.

Yeah; it’s interesting to see some of the arguments being advanced by Bush’s supporters to try to get around this issue. I got into it a little bit with Sparkey at Sgt. Stryker yesterday; see:
http://www.sgtstryker.com/weblog/archives/003591.php
Note that we don’t need to convince everyone in the My President Is Right, Right Or Wrong camp of the strenth of our arguments. We only have to convince enough of the people in the midldle to swing a few key states away from Bush next year. And right now, that’s happening. You can watch the polls move week by week.
So go play with the righty bloggers, sure, but don’t worry if they seem to have an inexhaustible supply of faith in the WMD fairy.
We’re winning now. This is what it looks like.
And public thanks, by the way, for making the case for Dean to me. You were right.
That Sgt. Stryker link is interesting, in the sense of more reality distortion field stuff that I haven’t heard before.
-We don’t need evidence, because to get it, agents may have to die. (Maybe they got that one from Star Wars – “Many Bothans died to bring us this information.”)
-We have no idea what’s in Kay’s report, but if he’s satisfied, we’re satisfied.
-“Proof mongers” will never have enough proof to be satisfied, so proof doesn’t matter. It’s just a distraction from “putting the smack down” where it’s needed.
As for Dean, great to have you on board, John. What you said on your site about him was wonderful.
