Big Donor, Small Donor (thanks to Atrios)
Go Dean.
In related election stuff, I saw John Edwards on “Meet the Press” this morning, and unfortunately the adjective that most occurs to me is “slimy.” (sorry, Mike) Edwards only seemed to underline my gut feeling that his war votes, pro then and anti now, are all just opportunistic political moves.
I stand by my enthusiasm for voting Ham Sandwich against GWB in 2004, but the war and candidates’ attitudes about it are a crucial litmus test for me. And Edwards flunks.
He was on Tim Russert and they showed Edwards being booed by the California Democrats over his pro-war remarks this summer. Cut back to the studio. Rather than using the opportunity to talk about dubya’s deceptions and how he let America down, Edwards tries to stand by his remarks. He’s out for himself. He’s believed the hype that he’s the next JFK.
By the way, did you notice that the Democrats collectively have matched dubya’s fundraising? There’s lots of kvetching over dubya’s warchest and “how are we going to keep up,” but if there was only one Dem candidate, they would be neck and neck in funds raised.
I never said that he wasn’t a dipshit, just that he was hot. I got tired of him pretty quickly.
