Shadow world

Still looking for a conservative weblog I can read without wanting to hark up my lunch every time I hit the page. Any suggestions would be appreciated. (I know I asked this a while ago, but I couldn’t find the post, so I don’t know what suggestions people made then. Sorry.)

This is prompted by Dean’s World’s latest slide from self-parody into some sort of shadow world beyond parody. I’d like to believe there are some people across the smoking chasm that used to be the “middle ground” that have a tiny semblance of civility, thoughtfulness, and common sense. Not holding my breath.

Why are you looking for a conservative weblog that doesn’t bother you when you’re on the opposite end of the political spectrum? Maybe it would be nice to find merit over there, but there’s a reason that you’re on the other side of the smoking chasm.

I guess I am trying to do just that: “find merit over there.” Has half the population just gone crazy?

Sounds like what you want is a “conservative” weblog from some wuss who writes in the “they might be right… and probably are… but I say I am conservative anyway” style. A political version of Uncle Tom so you can justify something.

If you want people to agree with you, read leftist ones, don’t go looking for a “right-wing” one to rationalize. There are dozens (hundreds?) of weblogs on the right which are not spiteful, and are well-thought out. If what you want is one that won’t make you vomit, either change your politics or stop reading them.

I think the phrase you want ot use is “so and so has a weblog which is not bad… he is conservative, but still agrees with me on things.” Maybe “they” aren’t being hte ones who are inflexible about it.

Maybe you’re like me and want some sort of proof that an entire half of the country hasn’t completely gone out to lunch.
I doubt you’re going to find that reading blogs. Most people I know are middle of the road; have both right and left leanings. However, most people I know don’t write blogs. The people that write online have an overwhelming urge when it comes to politics. But most people don’t.
Most people really do care, but at the same time, they don’t care.
    Strange isn’t it?
