I haven’t read Ann Coulter’s new book, “Treason,” and I don’t intend to. But I am 100% certain it is full of lies.
In Salon’s review of Coulter’s book, they write that she has used it as a platform to praise Joe McCarthy. In a conversation with Chris Matthews, she called the Democratic Party “functionally treasonable,” although she refused to call specific Democratic presidents like JFK and Truman traitors.
My naive questions are 1) Why doesn’t this get a reaction out of people? and 2) Does she really believe this bile, or is she just saying it for effect?
1) Two part answer:
1a) There are people that agree with her.
1b) Most everyone else doesn’t react for the same reason they don’t react to the rantings of paranoid schizophrenics.
Exactly!
Everytime I see or hear of her I just roll my eyes and continue past her hoping to get to useful information.
If we ignore her, maybe she’ll go away.
She says whatever it takes to sell books to right-wingers.
As for her not getting a reaction, what is this, pray?
Or do you mean a larger reaction? Well, what do you expect? It’s not like she’s a Dixie Chick.
nice play.
“One of my all-time favorite right-wing habitual statements is “I haven’t [seen/read/listened to/played] that [book/movie/art exhibit/song/game], and I don’t intend to. But I know it is trash, and against all I hold dear in this world.” They see no problem with this statement, or how funny it is. In fact, it’s almost a badge of honor -”

hmmmm. while interesting to throw adam’s words back at him – c’mon – its not like Ann Coulter doesn’t have a track record ( a huge, ugly track record), and a big Public Relations onslaught for this book to be able to make the conclusion adam did about the new book.
The intro was meant as a joke. I would never say a book was “full of lies,” as MDT did, without first reading it and doing my own research. I think maybe the joke fell flat, though.
I got it.
I mostly got it. Because I know you’ve complained about that tendency before, and are far too aware of the fact that “words mean things” to be that hypocritical. At least, I hoped so. Glad I was right.
