Average Joe finale
“At least I hope he’s terrible in bed.”
–David, commenting on the “Average Joe” finale last night
I must admit I was stunned when Melana picked the vacuous, childlike model Jason over funny, rich Adam. And it takes a lot to amaze a grizzled reality show veteran like me. Plus, I fell for the old “Survivor” editing trick, where Adam got so much more screen time than Jason, and the dating show editing trick where you think the first guy will be the one rejected. Damn. They even showed Jason peeking out from a window on the getaway jet as Adam got on the bus. Bastards!
This show surprised me throughout, by taking a middling premise and making it interesting from beginning to end. I don’t think Melana was all that interested in either of them, so she just thought, well, I might as well take the pretty one for a ride! Good luck with that, sweetheart.
I don’t shed too many tears for Adam, though. As my friend Wendy said last night, the millionaire day trader TV star (at least in the 15-minutes way) won’t be hurting for female attention after this. And that’s the best part of this whole show, if you ask me.
While watching that show I said out loud several times – so what’s to choose – how can you not choose Adam? Knowing all along deep down inside she’d take the pretty boy.
Then I saw them today on one of the morning shows and gosh almighty they are SO CUTE together. They look like Barbie and Ken or something. So perfect together. Maybe they WERE right for each other. And if not, who really cares?
So yeah – if I wasn’t interesting in keeping one forever, I’d take the cute one on vacation too, AND make him perform.
Adam won’t have any trouble now and I hope he’s just going to enjoy (in every way) the deluge of women who will now think he’s wonderful. THEN when he’s sick of all of the fawning, I hope he finds a woman worthy of his intelligence and sensitivity!
My Husband and I fell for the same tricks! We were rooting for Adam, he was so much the better choice! But then they deserve each other (she and Jason). If she cannot see the prize in Adam she doesn’t deserve to have him. I hope he really does get a lot more attention now, he is such a great guy.
Personally, Adam’s giant choppers kind of frightened me. I didn’t watch enough of the show to judge whether it was interesting, or fair, or etc. But I’m surprised anyone is surprised that pretty would choose pretty. That’s the way it works in the world. (I’d love to see Average Jane. A bunch of overweight, odd looking women walking up in swimsuits. Bet you the guy involved would walk.)

Adam can well afford to fix his choppers IF some woman talks him into it after she marries him. Anything can be changed. You want someone who falls for you first the way you are naturally.
I too would like to see Average Jane. Even if the guy walks, it would be worth it to see his face as they all get off the bus on the first episode.
