Just sayin’

I’m just sayin’

I can die a happy man as soon as George W. Bush says the phrase, “President-Elect Dean.”

I figure I’ve got about a year to wait.

Furhouse: That’s a great quote. Which episode/situation is it from?

I just hope you are right. But I have this sinking feeling that we have another four years of the Neocons running this place. Anyone want to move to Europe?

  4. Adam

I don’t know about Europe, but Canada’s looking pretty sweet right about now.

    No, Europe! Europe!!

Unfortunately, living in rural Indiana (which is otherwise good), I’m surrounded by reasons why Bush is likely to be back for four more years. If there was just one intelligent Democrat for every ten evangelical Christians here…

I actually thought that people were wearing “Vote Republican!” T-shirts as a joke when I got here. I wanted one to be cool, too, until I realized they weren’t kidding. These people stream in and out of the College Republicans office – just opposite the Gay Students office, incidentally. We just watch each other with mild confusion.

Dammit, I need to start writing on my own blog again.

Mmmm…that does have a nice ring to it. I can just imagine the squinty, pained expression as Bush says it.

OK – someone do the math for me, cuz I dont get why people think any of the Democrats are gonna beat Bush. How many people who voted for Bush last time will vote for the DEM? How many who voted for the Dem will get out and vote for the Dem nominee again this time? How many Nader and other 3rd party voters will switch to the Dem this time, and how many people who didtn vote last time (by choice, or they were under 18 at the time) will vote for the Dem and not Bush? Then subtract the old folks who passed away from each column, and give me some numbers! I just dont see any actual evidence that there will be a shift AWAY from Bush….

Let’s not forget some important numbers from 2000 — Bush LOST the popular vote to the tune of 500,000 votes. And, like many people, I believe he would have lost the electoral college if Florida had been capable of running a clean election and the Supreme Court had not delivered a Republican victory. As for 2004 numbers, I don’t know what numbers or “evidence” anyone can “show” you — we’ve got 11 months to go, and everything is just conjecture. Anything can happen between now and November. As for me, I’m trying to stay positive and get my tush out there campaining for Dean. If he doesn’t survive the primary, I’ll be out there for whichever Dem does (unless it’s someone like Lieberman, which is highly unlikely).

I look forward to hearing that too. The only thing better would be to hear dubya mis-pronounce it (or flub the grammar).
