Boy, just when you decide to take a break, all kinds of stuff pops up (San Francisco, Mel Gibson, Rod Paige (! fire his ass), Average Joe 2, etc. etc.) that is eminently worth writing about. Well, such is life.
Andy suggested that I have a notify list for people who want to know when (if?) I get started again. So if you’d like to be on the list, e-mail me. Thanks.
In the meantime, I’m moving to a new web host, clearing my head, and making some changes to ‘words mean things.’ Not big things. Preview: tweaked design, categories, no comments. And hopefully less self-censorship.
No comments? I can understand the appeal, but I don’t know how I’d keep going without some kind of feedback.
The comments had just become, for me, a Frankenstein’s monster that was out of control. So I finally decided, in a fit of uncharacteristic strong will, that it’s my site and I’ll run it the way I want. People can always e-mail me about an entry, and I’ll post interesting comments. (I’ll also show the old comments, if there are any.)
I think this will also let me be a little freer with my writing, because I won’t worry what sort of shitstorm a post will kick up in the comments.
Throwing the baby out with the bathwater?
Maybe. But it’s my baby and I need to be more assertive in doing what I want with it.
Maybe it would be more assertive on your part to deal with the bathwater directly instead of throwing out your baby in order to avoid the conflict.
Well, opinions vary.
Opinions vary. People disagree.
This is all assuming that babies or baths are desirable in the first place. Personally, I’ve been waiting to get aborted for months. It’s oddly freeing.
I’m suprised to learn you are afraid of posting something! Suprised, but I understand it. I have a “what will people think of this|me” thought when I post stuff sometimes. Usually it’s the most personal stuff. I have to remind myself that the most repeated command in scripture is essentially “do not fear.” But if no comments help you break free from the jerks (like me) then more power to ya! Can’t wait to see the new design! Love, Phil!
