I think George W. Bush may be the Leto II of 21st Century America. Anyone agree with me?

Not to debate your point, just a side comment. Those folks really misunderstood the golden path. Ok, geek mode off.

    Which folks?

The thing is, Leto II is billed as the most genetically advanced, physically powerful supernatural intelligences of the universe, and Bush is a stupid dry drunk Texan. That and I love the Dune books so much that I refuse to have them tarnished, either by the Bush dynasty or the Sci Fi Channel :).

The Golden Path was the prescient revelation that the Pharaoic model of human government (humanity massing behind a charismatic father figure) was a sociological virus that doomed a united humanity to a united demise. Leto II sought to teach humanity — on a genetic level — to become decentralized.

Bush actually wants to be our Pharaoh / father figure, and doesn’t realize the inherent suicidal outcome of his urges. I’m all for a Leto II to come teach us a real lesson, but it’s just a book, after all.

I don’t think my geek mode ever turns off.

wow that’s really well said! My heart dropped to compare my favorite books to bush! You can respect what Leto did. He sacrificed himself for the survival of the human race but I don’t see that with bush at all. Maybe the tyrant part is right! Ok just kidding well actually no but i hate getting stomped on by others ok then i guess i should just shut up then huh?
