Movie dialog, Part III:
Becky: I love the sky. It’s so limitless.
Gilbert: It is big. It’s very big.
Becky: Big doesn’t even sum it up, right? That word big is so small.
-What’s Eating Gilbert Grape
Part IV:
Gilbert’s mom: I’m sorry. I wasn’t always like this.
Becky: [pause] I wasn’t always like this.
-Ibid.
(That second one isn’t so good here, since you really have to see the movie to understand how cool that exchange is.)
That’s a great movie. My first bit of love for Juliette Lewis.
I agree. That was the only movie that Leonardo Dicrappio was in that I actually liked.
Shadoe, how true about DiCaprio. This was when he was a promising young actor, not an irritating, scrawny, pseudo-leading-man.
I’ve seen that particular movie a couple of times and it’s always struck me as a supreme unhappy movie with a happy-ish ending. I keep wondering about the person who wrote the script.
Sometimes you have to go through the bad to reach the good.
I love that film.
(did you notice how brevity is a big feature in my comments this evening – apart, that is, from this bit in which I am rambling as much as ever….)
