I saw Chuck and Buck on TV a few weeks ago. I really really disliked it. I couldn’t sympathize with either of the main characters. I just didn’t care about Buck’s obsession, and I was really bothered that Chuck and Charlyn never even address the issue of whether to take legal action against the guy who’s stalking them. This one was not for me.
I agree this is strong medicine as movies go. It’s incredibly intense and uncomfortable at times, but I think that’s why I like it. (It’s of course possible that my recent sentence watching “The Princess Diaries” might have something to do with this feeling.) It’s such an antidote to the sanitized, shiny world that movies seem to be providing for us these days.
Funny I should come across your site and happen to see “Chuck & Buck” on a post. I just saw the movie for the first time tonight. Through a lot of the movie I was saying to myself “Oh my god …” cuz I knew what Buck was doing was rude, wrong or just naive. Anyway, I guess I liked the movie, v weird and freaky which is cool at times. But I like those kinds of films and this def was one of them. Disturbing though. So … I’ll say 2 thumbs up!
