“MY BLOG, MY GODDAMN RULES!”
Andrea’s still mad. And she’s not going to take it anymore.
Lately I feel like Dian Fossey, having stumbled on a particularly fascinating species in the wild that I can’t stop examining. (Of course, we all know what happened to her. So it’s not good to get too obsessed. But for now, I’m having fun.)
Adam, you know that I agree with your assessment of Andrea. She is, as we call in French, “soupe au lait” (“milk soup”); she flies off the handle far too easily. However, I was playing devil’s advocate with myself just a few minutes ago and I asked myself how I’d react if someone like her were to start commenting in my blog. Would I engage in a fight, for which there could be no winner? Would I delete the offensive comment? Would I ignore the comment (and hope my regulars would as well) and leave it there? I’m still not sure… That said, like you, “creatures” like her fascinate me; they’re instructive because they provide a clear illustration of the kind of opinions we’re up against.
More and more, I’m convinced that thebest way to make headway against irrational people is to ignore them. Taking them on just gets them riled up and makes them hang onto their positions even more stridently. Ignore them and maybe they’ll take a deep breath, settle down and actually listen to an opposing argument.
There are already too many irrational people making laws and broadcasting nonsense. The more attention we give to the irrational, the more it is accepted as rational. Themore attention we give to the rational, the more chance they have to come to the forefront and be influential.
There are enough rational people in the world to talk to without giving additional attention to angry women like Andrea. Come back to us, Adam. Let’s find some new, interesting, thoughtful people to talk to. Maybe they’ll disagree with us but they’ll play nice.
At least you got some taglines out of it.
She’s kind of addictive. But after the first few days I had to stop looking at her site. Then I slipped again this morning after this post of Adam’s. And I commented on a post. I’ll get back on the No-Andrea wagon now.
Life is too short — and blogdom too large — to waste time in such places. Share your precious moments with those who feed your soul, not those who rob it of breath.
I’ve briefly skimmed the posts that you linked to.
She’s so desperate for attention, she’ll say or do anything she thinks will get her some. Kind of like that one bad kid in class.
I find people like this such a bore. I couldn’t even finish reaading even one post.
So much screaming but never saying anything. I have better things to do with my time.
I think she’s craptacular. I’ve never been so entertained in my life. I’m ready to call 911 for her, too, if she starts posting about how she can’t feel her left side — “I’m having a GODDAMN STROKE! Call 911 you mindless cunt! Oh, and you’re banned — happy?”
LOL@MissAnthropy! Funny!
