I’m probably going to write a rather lengthy post about “Matrix Reloaded,” but it’ll be for people who’ve already seen the movie. It’s one of those things that shouldn’t be spoiled by other people’s opinions.
One hint: Go see it twice. Trust me on this.
It’s strange to think that Gloria Foster died way back in September 2001, after she completed her part in “Reloaded” but before “Revolutions” began. I don’t think it’s a spoiler to say that the Oracle’s scene with Neo in “Reloaded” is the best part of the entire movie. She’s phenomenal, and we’ve lost something precious with her death.
It is not either the best part of the movie, in my opinion.
. . . or . . . ?
Possibly “fuck, I hit ‘post comment’ and now I don’t want to finish what I was saying”.
Or y’know, maybe we just don’t get it. Like me and the Matrix. Sort of. Fuck, back to study. Make me study.
Adam, why do you say “go see it twice”?
That was actually my whole comment… Sorry to leave you hanging. I need to see it again (and again and again) before I decide my favorite part. So far it’s not the Oracle scene. More like the Architect scene, but the melee on the stairs certainly in the running. Mmm… Melee… (ala Homer Simpson).
James: I think you need two viewings to get out of it what the filmmakers intended. To say more would spoil it, I think.
I don’t know if I could sit through Morpheus’ speech in Zion again…
Feel free to email me your thoughts, Adam. I’m curious. I found it to be a rather fluffy follow-up. I’m wondering what you saw that I missed…
I’m just really proud of myself for understanding it! I didn’t leave the theater with any questions other than the ones we’re supposed to have.
Spoil away, Adam!
