Went to see “Notorious C.H.O.” with Jon-Jon and Matt today. The word for Margaret Cho is brilliant. She manages to write a hilarious show (my jaw practically ached from laughing) that also means something, and perform it with heart. Her facial expressions alone are worth the price of admission. To those easily offended (especially by sex), a warning: do not attend this movie. Everyone else, go there now.

Matt’s take was that the first half is much weaker than “I’m The One That I Want”, then the last half is really, really funny. My take is that the first third is really funny, the second half (especially the “leather community” tirade) is absolutely, unbearably hilarious, and in the last third she’s got some “earned entitlement” with her audience, so she uses it to preach, but much better than any other preacher I’ve heard. In fact, her speech on G/L/B/T rights and looksism should be enough to silence about 2 million spoken word artists, though unfortunately, a new one is born just about every second.
In short: go see it! It’s freaking Hilldale, fer chrissakes!
