There are things that I really want to say, but don’t feel comfortable writing on this page. Know what I mean?

    Er. Yes. Yes! Daily!

Sometimes, yeah. Comments I want to record, or share with some people, but not with others — either known or unknown.

Lot of that going around these days.

Absolutely. There are always things I’m dying to say, then I write them down, and suddenly, they look different, and it seems like less of a good idea to share them.

Uh huh. There’s something to be said for keeping a paper journal sometimes…

I agree. The privacy of an old-fashioned paper journal can be comforting after too long in the blog world.

Constantly! The monster of self censorship stomps all over the online journal. Of course, it can traipse just as hard over a paper journal. Once you’ve had a private paper and pen journal stolen and used against you, you either run and hide, or you put on your “fuck you” armor and inform those around you that if they chose to read your journal, they get what they paid for.

Which is always easier said than done.

One difference is that a person journal is intended to be personal, not read by others (at least not while you’re still alive). Whereas most folks’ blogs are more than just journals. That mixed mission makes blogging a bit more difficult to say “caveat lector” about.
