Back from the beyond

Post – September 24, 2001

It happens every year. Like clockwork, around this time, I get an uncontrollable craving for candy corn. So I’m in the grocery store, and I buy a bag, like every year. And like every year, I take it home, rip it open, and eat several handfuls. And I feel sort of sick.

After that, I can’t bear to look at or even think of candy corn again. Until next year.

It’s sort of like Lucy and Charlie Brown and the football (which, coincidentally, also happens in the fall). Every year, he thinks, this year she won’t pull the football out from under me. This year, she’ll leave it there. But she never does. I’m Charlie Brown and the candy corn is Lucy. Or something.

    Mmm. Candy.

Candy corn makes a good set of vampire fangs. Just shove them fat-end-first onto both canines.

I’m the same way – only with pickles.

Candy corn is one of the things I have my mother send me every year from the States.

Actually, it is the *only* thing I have her send year after year. And yes, I eat it until I get sick, and then avoid it until the next year.

Wait, those little Valentine candy hearts with the messages on them (O-U KID) are another thing I miss.

Oy, I have computer difficulty. But anyway:
Yes, I do the same thing, only with maple sugar candy. Only I crave it less than once a year, because I always get so seriously ill afterwards. It’s basically like eating pure sugar. In fact, that’s exactly what it is.
