Punch-Drunk Love

Last night my brother Matt told me on the phone that since I had talked so much on my site about how great “Punch-Drunk Love” was, he made a special trip to the video store to rent it.

I tried to tell him I wouldn’t have recommended the movie to *him*. Our tastes in movies are, shall we say, somewhat different. (He watched “Legally Blonde” four times.) He said he wouldn’t blame me if he hated it. I hope not.

This reminds me of when I recommended “Limbo” to my brother Roby. He hasn’t let me forget that mistake ever since. 🙂

I watched “Total Recall” and “My Own Private Idaho” in front of my parents. They were quite obviously, um, put off by Paul Verhoeven’s extreme love of gory gunshot battles in the first and River Phoenix’s emotionally-true protrayal of the life of a hustler (Ahh! Blowjobs!!) in the second. My bad.
But, hey, I’m sure I’ve seen “Legally Blonde” more than four times, and my name is also Matt. Coincidence?

Watching violence with your parents is NOTHING compared to watching “The Piano” with your grandmother.

*mentally cue naked Harvey Keitel scene*

    Gramma: Eh, I’ve seen bigger.

I still have nightmares about Series 7, Adam. Thanks. 🙂

We convinced our church youth group leader to let us watch “The Excorcist”. Boy was that uncomfortable. Of course we also convinced her that Ministry was christian metal…
