My, quite the ambitious menu. I do hope that you have help – just ask Paul as to my mental state, and the state of my kitchen, after this last weekend’s baptism.

I’ll be at my sister’s new home, and as she is now the hostess I have been given the unglamourous vegetable assignment (red cabbage and peas w/mushrooms). My dear sister has been longing for years to do this, as my notariety as a sweets maker has long given me the coveted starring dessert role, while relagating her to the vegetable/salad sidelines. It’s possible that her new house was all a ploy to win her this position.

My rather horrible brother will be coming for the first time in years, guarenteeing an exciting evening of walking on eggshells so as not to trigger a major blowup. Not that we care so much about him, but it would be rather unpleasant for my parents, and for my sister-in-law and nephew. They have to live with him, after all.

And no more nuts in the stuffing, due to a newly discovered allergy in one of my nephews.

Well, at least Ma and Pa are still with us, along with baby William. And that’s good enough for me.

What the heck is BRINED turkey? The link isn’t working.

My sister and I will be driving over to nearby Stoneham (I live in Boston) to have dinner at the home of our Aunt Linda and Uncle Bobby. They are among the most gracious hosts I’ve ever had the pleasure of being related to, so I’m looking forward to lots of great food.

Funny you should mention brined turkey. I’d never heard of it until a couple of hours ago when a co-worker mentioned to me that her boyfriend wanted to do a brined turkey this year. How odd.

I’m heading back to my parents house for a few days.

I would love to try a brined turkey, but my family is firmly entrenched in food tradition. Last year, my mom used a different recipe for yams and my grandmothers threw a conniption fit.

I tried to get assigned pies because my grandmother’s pies tend to be… not … good. Unfortunately, that failed, so I made an apple pie for my roommmate Julie and me, and we ate almost all of us between the two of us. Let the eating begin.

Having no family in the area, and wishing to avoid the “Oh, come join OUR family” awkwardness of wellmeaning friends, the husband and I will be having our feast at one of the better restaurants in the area . Then we will be driving north to Amelia Island for our regular 3 days at our favorite bed & breakfast (usually our only vacation of the year). This year I have high hopes of meeting another weblogger while we are there, which just makes it all that much better!

And I don’t have to wash any dishes!

What am I doing for Thanksgiving? Well, with a menu like that, I’ll be over around 4ish OK?

Actually, I’ll be hanging out, pigging out, at my screamingly newly single (like, as of Monday morning) sister’s house. My immediate family with their kids will be there and we’ll eat and laugh and watch movies and just have an all around good time – just like every other holiday. I have a really kickass family.
